how+to+apply+eyeshadow

Eye makeup can take your makeup game to another level. It’s either make it or break it when it comes to eye makeup, really. Things can go horribly wrong. If you try and attempt things that you aren’t too sure of, you might have yourself ready for a hallowen party, rather than for work. In this post we have provided a guide on how to go about the correct application of your eye shadow, so without any further ado let go into the business of the day.

Before we can start talking about the eye shadow, we need to look at the various products required to get the perfect eye makeup.

You Will Need

  1. Moisturizer
  2. Eye cream
  3. Eye primer
  4. Eyeshadows
  5. Eye makeup brushes
  6. A kohl pencil
  7. An eyeliner
  8. A mascara
The type of brush to be used for this tutorial is very important so as to achieve good result, so below are the brush we would be using through out this tutorial.

Types Of Brushes

Different brushes have different functions. One would be useful for packing on the eyeshadow, the other for blending and another for smoking out the lower lash line. Let’s look at a few of them.

1. Flat Stiff Brush

This brush can be used for applying eyeshadow on the eyelid, as well as under the lower lash line. A flat brush is best for packing the product onto the eyelid. The MAC 239 is a great product for this. This also works extremely well when you want to apply a glitter pigment as the stiff nature of the brush helps in picking up the product easily.

2. Pencil Brush

The pencil brush is used to apply the product onto the lower lash line. This is great for when you’re smoking out the lower lash line, or if you want to create a soft look. You can also use this at the crease to create a soft crease line. It works well at the outer corners of the eye where you want to add intensity as well.

3. Stiff Dome Brush

This brush is perfect for applying and blending out colors. It’s especially useful when you are using more than one color and want to create a smooth transition without removing the shade differences.

4. Fluffy Dome Brush

The fluffy dome brush is for blending, blending, and then – you guessed it right – blending some more. It helps you achieve that flawless eyeshadow transition from one shade to the other. It helps to diffuse any harsh lines and makes the transition look smooth.

This are the various brush needed for this tutorial, so get your brush out and get ready for the tutorial because we are about to begin.

How To Apply Eyeshadow – Step-By-Step Tutorial

Step 1: It’s All About That Base

how+to+apply+eyeshadow

Prepping the eye area is extremely crucial since it’s all about that base (Meghan Trainor might be talking about a different kind of base, but she’s not wrong!). Start by cleaning the area around the eyes. Follow it up with a moisturizer or an eye cream. Next, prep the eye area with an eye primer so that the makeup stays put for a longer time and gives a seamless finish. You can also use a concealer that matches the skin tone around your eyes. Apply the concealer with a brush and seal it with a translucent or transparent powder. This will make the eye area look even, make the skin crease-proof, and also conceal any discoloration of the skin. It also creates a clean base so that the colors sit better.

Step 2: Chose The Type of Eyeshadow

how+to+apply+eyeshadow

It’s now time for the actual eye makeup. You should always analyze the shape of your eyes and accordingly decide on a makeup technique that will enhance them. The eye area consists of the eyelid, the crease, and the brow bone. It’s also important that you know which shade or texture to use on each of these areas. Use textures like frost/shimmer/shine on the eyelid and brow bone, and matte finish textures on the crease.

Pro Tip– Use darker shades of eyeshadows to contour the eyes at the crease and use lighter shades at the center of the eyelids to make the eyes pop.
Start by applying the color on the eyelid with a flat eyeshadow brush using a sweeping or patting motion. Here, a dull gold shade in frost texture was used, since there is very less lid space. This lighter shade will make the eyelid more prominent. Start the application from the center and then sweep it towards both inner and outer corners. Apply the color evenly on the lid and deposit more for intensity.

Step 3: Dark Shades for the Crease

how+to+apply+eyeshadow

Now, we concentrate on the crease area. Use a darker shade of eyeshadow to define the eye shape. To achieve this, go for shades like deep browns, black, deep gray, dark purple, etc. Start applying from the outer corner of the eye, making a ‘V’, and blend it halfway through the eyelid with a fluffy eyeshadow blending brush. Do this using the windshield wiper motion. Keep blending until the color starts to look softer. In order to highlight the brow bone, go for lighter shades in either frost or shimmer textures.

Step 4: Rim The Eyes With Kohl

how+to+apply+eyeshadow

To make the eye makeup more dramatic, use a kohl pencil on the lower lash line. Smudge it with a smudger/pencil brush if you want a smokey effect.

Pro Tip – Using a white/beige colored eye pencil on the lower rims of the eyes is the best way to make them look bigger and brighter.

Step 5

how+to+apply+eyeshadow

 corner and gradually pull Pinit
Apply eyeliner to define the eyes. Start from the outer corner and gradually pull it inwards using small strokes. You can keep it simple, or make it dramatic. And, when in doubt, just wing it out!

Step 6

Here’s the Final Look:

Afraid That Your Eye Makeup Will Crease?

In order to prevent your eye makeup from creasing and smudging, you can follow these tips.

  • Invest in a good base or primer as it will instantly boost your eye makeup and will make the eyeshadow stay put for a long time.
  • Make sure to set the eyeshadow with a powder base if you’ve used a cream-based eyeshadow.
  • Use a gel or waterproof eyeliner to prevent any transferring of the product.

Some Quick Tips to Apply Eyeshadow Perfectly

  • It’s always good to finish your eye makeup first and then move on to your base makeup. That way, if there’s an eyeshadow fallout under or around the eyes, you can quickly clean it up without spoiling your base makeup.
  • To define the crease area, use a pencil brush and then blend it with a fluffy brush.
  • Choose a formula that works best for you. They’re available in either cream, powder, or pressed form. Cream eyeshadows can be used as a base for powder eyeshadows.
  • In case you have hooded or deep set eyes, try applying the eye makeup with your eyes open instead of closed so that the crease color is actually visible.
  • If you have trouble drawing the ‘V’ on the outer corner of the eyes, then draw a ‘#’ with an eye pencil and blend it immediately to avoid stark edges.
  • To avoid eyeshadow fall out, powder the area under your eyes with a transparent or translucent powder before beginning the eye makeup. Once you are done, just sweep the powder off.
  • You can also wait to conceal your under eyes till after the eye makeup.
  • Make sure to use clean brushes as this will give you the best transition.
Applying eyeshadow perfectly takes a little time and patience, but once you’ve got it down, it becomes very easy. I can’t believe there was a time when I was intimidated! Now, I look forward to the days when I have to attend a party or a wedding so that I can go all out with my eye makeup! If you have any queries, just comment in the box below.

There are six brow shapes in general, such as rounded, curved, flat, hard and soft angled shapes. Among these six variants, the following are the best eyebrow shapes for round face
eyebrows+for+round+face+big+nose

1. Hard Angled:

It is important to elongate round shaped face as much as possible. This can be achieved with a sharp or high arch, which is considered as the best eyebrow shape for round face. Soft or gentle arch makes the face appear more round, so you should skip those arches. How to Achieve this Shape? For this shape you need to keep the brow line straight to the peak and then low towards the edges. High arches open up the eyes while the face appears thin. Since the brows are far from your nose, this shape would make your face appear thinner.

2. Soft Angled:

Round faced women can have either soft angled or hard angled eyebrow shapes. The soft angled shape has soft peaks and curves. This shape can have low or high arches. The high arches work best for round shaped face, since it helps to make the face appear thinner than wider. Women who are uncomfortable with high arches can alternately use soft angled eyebrow shape. The hard angled shape makes the face look younger. This shape helps fat face look slimmer and short faces look longer. Though this shape gives a harsh look, but works well on round faces. How To Achieve This Shape? The angled shapes, both hard and soft render a delicate look to the round face shaped women. The shape is straight and curves softly around the top and down corners of the brow. This shape is also known to make the person look taller.

3. S Shaped:

S-shaped eyebrow shape resembles the soft angled brow shape. The shape begins with a slightly curved line and the angle of the brow is quite rounded. It makes the round faced shape longer. The shape makes the eyebrow resemble the letter S. Thus the shape is called S-shaped. This unique brow shape suits that type of face, which is a blend of angle and curve. This shape offers a glamorous look to your face. How To Achieve This Shape? The S-shaped eyebrow for round face is quite similar to high arched brow shape. You have to keep your brows straight towards your nose, causing a slight curve. However, this brow shape doesn’t offer much flattering look to the face.

Note: We also suggest you to stay away from both the rounded eyebrows and the flat eyebrows, as they add to roundness.

How+To+Make+Small+Eyes+Appear+Bigger

How To Make Small Eyes Appear Bigger With Make Up is one big questions every lady with small eyes asks frequently, though not every lady possesses big eyes but the looks big eyes gives to the face is one thing that every lady wants because eyes that appear bigger makes one look younger and awake. Don't get it all twisted when i talk about big eyes, every eye is perfect and would be complimented upon by every one but if you really want to make your eye look bigger then it simple all you just need to do is create an illusion with some little make up skills.

The question on how do i make my eyes look huge or how to make eyes look bigger and rounder can be answered easily with some little make up skill though there are ways on how to make my eyes bigger naturally but in this post i would be showing you the simple way of how to achieve the aim at hand through the application of little make up.

How To Make Small Eyes Look Bigger?

1. Praise Those Eyebrows

how+to+make+my+eyes+bigger+naturally

I would advice you follow the natural shape of your eyes so as to look natural, the brows make all the difference so take a trip to the salon at frequent intervals, and keep the brows in good shape.

For those who want to keep their brows bold, bear in mind that you have to maximize the space you have so that it creates an illusion of bigger looking eyes. Bold, thick, and beautiful brows bring attention to the eyes. The difference between natural brows and over-tweezed arches is that the natural makes one look more innocent, while the latter makes you appear older.

2. Say Goodbye To Puffiness

eye makeup for small eyes and round face

In order to maintain a beautiful eye then you should pamper and treat them nicely. The presence of the swollen skin around the eyes would make it look tiny so you should aim at getting rid of them, meanwhile below are some ways to reduce puffiness around the eye.

  • Get enough sleep
  • Wash your face with cold water often
  • Place used cold teabags over the eyes as the tannins present in tea tighten the skin
  • Reduce salt intake
  • Exercise

3. Say No To Under Eye Dark Circles

how+to+make+your+eyes+look+bigger+with+eyeliner+and+mascara

Dark circles is something that drives the attention to be paid to eyes away, using a concealer to cover up the dark circles will not make your eyes look bigger, but at least, the dark circles will not draw attention to them when someone is looking at your eyes. So, this step is really important.

Color correct your blemishes and dark circles with an illuminating concealer. Ensure you use a shade slightly lighter than your foundation to lift and enhance your look. We recommend the light and creamy YSL Touche Eclat and smooth MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, which is also a great cover-up for spots.

4. Light Neutral Colored Eye Shadow

how+to+make+eyes+look+bigger+and+rounder

Using neutral and light eyeshadows, Follow the rule of contouring, Light colors for the areas that you want the light to reflect and darker shades for the areas you want to push back, Using light colors at the center of the eyelids brings them forward, Pick up some product on a brush, tap the excess off and gently apply at the center of the eyelids. With all this you are sure to completing the illusion of achieving a bigger eye.

5.  Tightline The Upper Water Line

Steps+to+Get+Bigger+Eye+With+make+up

Note that this is the step that makes a lot of difference. Using a black liner to tightline the upper water line gives the appearance of fuller lashes and helps to open up the eyes. I like to use the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil by Urban Decay. The formula is amazing and it gives your eyelashes volume without doing much!

6. Lay Low With The Eyeliner

Make+up+magics

When using liner on the lower lashline, make sure to only apply it to the outer third. Use a smudger or a brush to soften it out. As for the eyelid, draw a line as close as you can to the lashes. You can create a tiny flick and gradually make it thicker at the end if you want to.

7. Curly, Fluttery Eyelashes

Steps+on+Making+eye+bigger

An eyelash curler is to women what a sports car is to men. For those big eyes, ensure that you fully cup the lashes in the curler closer to the roots. Our favorites are E.L.F. Studio Eyelash Curler and Sally Hansen La Cross Double Curl Eyelash Curler.
This is the best way to achieve big eyes because it makes every other thing applied standout and given a better view to the eye.

8. The Nude Effect

how+to+make+eyes+look+bigger+with+black+eyeliner

Most people think that the way to achieving big eyes is by loading up on black kohls or kajals. However, this is entirely the opposite. The dark black kajal actually makes the eyes appear smaller and boxed in. Considering the Indian skin-tone, a white eye pencil may not be the most flattering one to use. The trick here is to go nude on your lower lash line. Try Bourjois Khol and Contour Eyeliner Pencil- 08 Rose Fantaisiste, or MAC Chromagraphic Pencil.
The main aim is to try to blend your lower lash line with your skin color to make your eye look larger

9. O’ Holy Mascara

how=to+make+your+eyes+look+bigger+with+eyeliner+and+mascara

The magic wand for makeup, a good mascara can make your eyes look bigger and thicker in no time. We suggest Clinique’s High Impact Mascara, and Maybelline Great Lash Mascara for that oomph factor. For those battable lashes and added glam, try applying three to four coats on the outer corners of the eye to create doe shaped eyes.
Mascara are the easiest and fastest way of getting a large eye it serves as the finish line to get the best out of the work done.

10. Contour The Crease

Make+up+Contour+magic

Contouring the crease helps in creating the illusion of deeper set eyes, which in turn, make them appear larger. Use a matte brown shade from the outer corner to the crease and blend well. When you’re going for an intense makeup look, you can contour slightly above your actual crease. Cover from the Naked Basics 2 palette by Urban Decay is a good shade for contouring.

11. Shimmer In The Inner Corner

Make+up+magic

Use a highlighter or a shimmery light eyeshadow in the inner corner. This adds a little something extra to your makeup look, and also helps you look awake. You can choose two ways of applying this.
  • You can blend it out and give it a very sheen look. This makes you look fresh in a very natural way.
  • Perhaps you’re looking for something more. Then, in that case, don’t blend it out. Doing this makes your eyes sparkle and is an easy way to compensate when you haven’t done much eye makeup.
Final Verdict
Well, there you have it. 11 ways to make your eyes look brighter and bigger. I certainly know for a fact that this works. Below are some more useful tips to get big eyes using make up i guess some extra should do.

Some More Tips To Make Your Eyes Look Bigger

  • Try and avoid dark colors like blacks and grays.
  • However, you can use soft browns for the crease.
  • Don’t overload on the eyeliner. This only makes the eyes look smaller.
  • Full lashes help to open up the eyes more so use the mascara.
  • You can also choose to apply false lashes.
  • Use eye masks and gently massage the areas around the eyes to get rid of the puffiness and water retention.
